The poem’ My grandmother’s house‘ has been composed by Kamala Das. She was born in 1934. in Kerala. She wrote in two languages english and malayalam. Her famous works are summer in kolkata, ‘Yes Allah’

In this poem. Kamala Das recalls the happy days spent in the grand-mother’s house where she received love by her grandmother. Now the poetess moved from that house but has never been as happy as she was. The poetess’s grandmother is no more. Yet the poetess wishes to go there but That house withdrew into silence, Snakes moved among books. She wants to listen the frozen air love.

At last, she says that she begs ‘at stranger’s door but she can’t receive the love which once she received by her grandmother.

कविता ‘My grandmother’s house‘ कमला दास के द्वारा लिखा गया है। इनका जन्म 1934 ई. में केरल में हुआ था। वह दो भाषाओं में कविता लिखती थी। अँग्रेजी तथा मलयालम। उनके प्रसिद्ध कार्य ‘Summer in kolkata’ Yes Allah’ है।

इस कविता में कमला दास अपने दादी माँ के घर बिताये खुशी के वो दिनों को याद करती है। जहाँ उन्हें अपने दादी माँ से बहुत प्रेम मिला था। अब कवित्री उस घस से चली गयी है। लेकिन अब वो उतनी खुश नहीं रहती जितनी पहले रहती है। कवित्री के दादी माँ अब नहीं रही तो भी कवित्री का वहाँ जाने का मन करता है। लेकिन अब वो घर में सन्नाटा है। साँप उस घर में रखें किताबें पर चलते रहती है। वो सुनसान हवाओं कों महसूस करना चाहती है वहाँ जाकर।

अन्तः वह कहती है की वह अनजान के दरवाजे पर प्यार की भींग माँगती है लेकिन उसे प्यार नहीं मिल पाता जो कभी उसे दादी माँ ने दिया था।
